The ex-Borussia Dortmund winger has been removed from the squad following a public dispute with Ten Hag and his refusal to apologize on social media for contradicting his manager.Although he excelled for Ten Hag at Ajax, Van de Beek has struggled to replicate that level of performance in England. Since returning from a protracted knee injury, he has been utilized infrequently. The departure of both players could create significant wage savings for the club, which is currently obligated to evaluate Financial Fair Play in advance of the forthcoming transfer window.

Despite training away from the club, United had previously declined the option to loan Sancho to Saudi Arabia shortly after the Premier League summer transfer window closed. Sancho is a higher priority for Juventus, and it may be necessary to reach a compromise in order to loan Van de Beek in exchange for a permanent signing bonus of approximately £30 million.Late in the summer transfer window, United attempted to loan Van de Beek to Real Sociedad, but the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement.
