Introducing his Man Utd XI under Ruben Amorim, Jamie Carragher makes three daring predictions.

Jamie Carragher indicated that Ruben Amorim may be inclined to relocate players from their natural positions as he endeavours to implement his preferred 3-4-3 formation at Manchester United. Amorim is scheduled to assume the role at Old Trafford during the international break, following the agreement of terms with Sporting CP, the leaders of the Portuguese division. In Lisbon, the 39-year-old has captivated fans with his daring formation, which has resulted in 35 goals and only three conceded in the first 10 matches of the current season.

It is anticipated that he will attempt to replicate this approach at Old Trafford. Despite the fact that United spent a significant amount of money over the summer, acquiring £200m in new signings under Erik ten Hag, Carragher is of the opinion that at least one of these new recruits will not be able to find a position in the team. Joshua Zirkzee has been in and out of the team since his £36m transfer from Bologna in July, and Carragher is of the opinion that the Dutchman is not suitable for Amorim’s preferred formation.

Andre Onana remained in goal, while Carragher started at the defence. He proposed that Leny Yoro, the most recent acquisition, be positioned as the right-most of the three center-backs when he makes his Premier League debut, with Matthijs de Ligt in the centre and Lisandro Martinez on the left.

“I actually think Martinez, in this position, it might suit him – gives you that balance with the left foot,” Carragher suggested. “I do not believe that De Ligt or Maguire can be placed in the wide position; they will be unable to adapt. Consequently, I do not believe that they can be included in the same back three, as the individual in the wide position would be significantly exposed.”

Under Amorim, it is anticipated that United’s captain, Fernandes, will not be permitted to be the most advanced of the three midfielders. Additionally,

anticipates that Casemiro will be relegated to the sideline as the new manager reunites with former Sporting midfielder Manuel Ugarte. “I believe that Ugarte and [Kobbie] Mainoo–Ugarte is a player he is familiar with, and I have observed Sporting Lisbon play, and these two players do not simply sit and do not move.” Carragher continued, “In terms of pressing, they will occasionally push right up and be extremely aggressive against the opposition.”

Subsequently, presenter David Jones enquired as to whether energy was significant, to which he responded with an immediate affirmative. He proceeded, “Energy will be the primary focus.” “It is important to remember that the centre of the pitch is frequently occupied by teams with four players, rather than just three.”

People discuss the possibility of playing the box in that location; it will be fascinating to observe how they handle this defensively. Consequently, I believe that [Amorim’s] out-of-possession set-up will be captivating when he does not have the best players or team in the league, as it will present a challenge.
