Kyle Fitzgerald, a Republic of Ireland junior international, is expected to be signed by Newcastle United.

The winger is believed to have consented to join Newcastle after spending time on trial at Wolverhampton Wanderers and the latter during the summer. As per reports, Fitzgerald’s departure from Galway United will be formalized upon his 18th birthday later this month.

Fitzgerald has appeared for Galway’s first team on two occasions and has represented the Republic of Ireland at the junior level. Alex Murphy, Cathal Heffernan, Reece Byrne, and Rory Finneran, who joined the Magpies’ academy from Blackburn Rovers in August, are among the notable Irish players.

In the three years since Mike Ashley sold the club to the consortium headed by the PIF, Newcastle has made substantial improvements to their academy. United has not only recruited the most talented individuals from other clubs, but they have also successfully resisted intense competition from their competitors.
