Newcastle United is preparing to replace a critical player following the confirmation of a £300 million Arsenal deal and a summer exit.Former Arsenal CEO Vinai Venkatesham is reportedly in contention for the same position at St James’ Park.

Mail Online asserts that Newcastle is employing external specialists to identify a new CEO, with majority proprietors PIF expected to make the final decision. This follows the announcement by Darren Eales that he would be resigning from his position in September after serving in the position for two years.

Venkatesham has emerged as a likely candidate to succeed Eales, who departed Arsenal over the summer in order to “pursue another challenge.

” The 43-year-old has a pre-existing relationship with Newcastle’s chief commercial officer, Peter Silverstone, having worked alongside him at Arsenal from 2015 to 2022.

After the confirmation of Venkatesham’s departure from Arsenal, Silverstone posted on LinkedIn, “Congratulations on an incredible career at Arsenal.

” It is evident that I was extremely privileged to have worked with you for seven years. I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity you provided, the exceptional work we accomplished together, and the areas in which you assisted me in my personal growth. There are also some wonderful (and amusing) memories.

I am aware that you will persist in your work ethic for the upcoming year, but I do hope that you will take the opportunity to contemplate and appreciate the final lap. I will see you in the near future Silverstone and Venkatesham were responsible for one of Arsenal’s most lucrative commercial partnerships, which involved a £300 million arrangement with Adidas in 2019.

Since his arrival at Newcastle, Silverstone has entered into another agreement with Adidas as a kit supplier. This agreement has been referred to as “the largest” commercial agreement in the club’s history.
