Newcastle United is being encouraged to finalise a £90 million transaction following the Premier League rule change and the agreement with Manchester United.

Kieran Maguire, a football finance expert, is of the opinion that Newcastle United has the potential to evaluate the modifications to the Premier League’s Associated Party Transaction regulations.

Newcastle and three other Premier League clubs voted against the revised APT regulations that were ultimately approved at a Premier League shareholder meeting last Friday.

However, uncertainty persists due to Manchester City’s ongoing legal dispute with the Premier League regarding these regulations.

Last week, the Premier League issued a statement stating that it has engaged in a comprehensive consultation with clubs to develop rule changes that address the necessary system amendments.

This consultation was informed by the opinions of multiple expert, independent Leading Counsel. “This pertains to the integration of the evaluation of shareholder loans,

the elimination of certain amendments to the APT rules that were implemented earlier this year, and modifications to the method by which pertinent information from the League’s “databank” is communicated to a club’s advisors.”

“The APT rules are designed to prevent clubs from obtaining commercial deals or cost reductions that are not at Fair Market Value (FMV) as a result of their relationships with Associated Parties.

” In order to protect the League’s financial stability, integrity, and competitive equilibrium, these regulations were implemented.
Maguire contends that Newcastle should be permitted to complete shirt deals worth £90 million

per season in order to replicate Manchester United’s current agreement with Adidas, despite the fact that Newcastle voted against the alterations. He argues that this amount could be regarded as “fair market value.”

“I believe that the supplementary information that is currently accessible to clubs will enable them to observe the upper limit of the upper limit,” Maguire stated to TBR Football.

“It will enable them to determine the extent to which they can negotiate before the Premier League declares this unacceptable.”The Premier League explicitly states that the rules are in place to ensure competitive balance.

Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that Newcastle United and Manchester City would also be permitted to have a £90m shirt contract if Man United has one. “I am unable to comprehend how they can maintain a composed demeanour when they make such a statement.”

Newcastle’s current contract with Adidas is valued at approximately £30 million per season, while Liverpool is poised to establish a substantial commercial partnership with the German sports manufacturer beginning next season.
