Manchester City
Opinion: Newcastle United F.C. may now be offered as “bait” for the 26-year-old midfielder Bruno Guimaraes by the two players who represent Manchester City.
According to reports, Manchester City may attempt to recruit Bruno Guimares from Newcastle United by employing one of two players as “bait.”
Savinho, a Brazilian winger, was announced as City’s inaugural summer acquisition earlier this week. The Brazilian signed a five-year contract.
Bruno Guimaraes has been suggested as a potential midfield recruit, and fans are anticipating the arrival of a few additional new players.
It is widely believed that City are eager to acquire a defensive midfielder. The club is seeking an individual who can serve as a backup to Rodri and potentially participate in games alongside him.
In the past few years, Guimaraes has established himself as one of the most excellent defensive midfielders in the Premier League.
His release clause, which was valued at £100 million, recently expired. However, there is a possibility that Newcastle will continue to consider proposals. City could potentially entice the Magpies to negotiate by offering one of two players as a sweetener.
Man City is contemplating the possibility of offering Rico Lewis or Oscar Bobb as “bait” in an effort to secure Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle.
The Daily Star has made a bold claim today that Manchester City could attempt to recruit Bruno Guimaraes by offering one of Rico Lewis or Oscar Bobb as a makeweight.
Guimaraes is still valued at approximately £100 million by Newcastle.
However, City believes that the Brazilian is truly worth approximately £80 million.
It is intriguing that Newcastle has expressed interest in the young players from City, Lewis and Bobb. This interest could be instrumental in the successful completion of a transaction.
City is reportedly prepared to send one of them on loan to Newcastle, along with funds, in exchange for Guimaraes.
According to The Daily Star, City has not made Lewis or Bobb available for permanent transfers this summer, as both are considered “integral” to the club’s long-term future.
However, the publication implies that City may be prepared to momentarily forfeit one in order to secure a high-profile target in Guimaraes.
Bobb appeared in 26 games for 819 minutes, while Lewis appeared in 27 games for a total of 1608 minutes last term.
As remarkable as it would be to observe Guimaraes in a City jersey, and as much as Pep Guardiola admires the player, and as much as City require competition and protection for Rodri, this does not appear to be a decision that City would make.
Lewis and Bobb are among the most talented young players in the realm of football.
Lewis may receive additional playing time at the Etihad next season, given Kyle Walker’s performance from the previous season. Additionally, it is evident that he is capable of playing in the midfield.
Then, Bobb is a technically gifted winger who is highly anticipated by numerous individuals in the City organization. After experiencing a remarkable breakthrough campaign in 2023/24, he will anticipate a natural increase in his minutes.
We will observe the outcome. However, it would be somewhat unexpected.
Nevertheless, the recent acquisition of Savinho suggests that the possibility of Bobb being offered on loan in a deal to secure Guimaraes would not be entirely unexpected. If that is the case, it is crucial that the City refrain from agreeing to any options or obligations to purchase.
