Manchester City
Pep Guardiola cautions the injured Manchester City players that they are unable to remain if they are unable to participate.
Pep Guardiola issued his most explicit warning to his injured Manchester City squad: they will be required to be transferred in the summer if they are unable to remain healthy.
was enquired as to whether players who are unable to maintain their availability for three games per week will be required to have their futures assessed in the summer following the announcement of John Stones’ most recent ‘two to three-month’ suspension.
Stones’ most recent return from injury was terminated after only eight games, as he collapsed four minutes into the second leg at the Bernabeu. He has missed 18 games this term from a possible 40, starting only 13 and completing the full 90 minutes eight times.
His previous two attempted returns were ended after 45 minutes each. Guardiola issued a stern warning to Stones and other players who have been unable to maintain their fitness this season when asked whether City can afford to retain them after they continue to sustain injuries.
He stated, “That is the truth.” It is imperative that we convene with the physicians, physiotherapists, players, and agents to establish that certain individuals are unable to maintain a three-day schedule on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. This is the truth. “A significant number of players are already unable to maintain the level of performance we have demonstrated in the past on a weekly basis.”
Participating in numerous competitions, travelling without incident. The quality is present; however, injuries that persist for an extended period of time necessitate recuperation. Additionally, the opponents are exceedingly demanding, which is indicative of the advancements in contemporary football. It is possible for us to experience a poor season; we are entitled to it.
“The truth is that in order to regain our position, we must have players who are both available and in good health in the future.” It is possible for this to occur occasionally; however, it has already occurred numerous times. It is extremely challenging because the teams are more agile, speedier, and more powerful than we are at present.
