‘Produced almost nothing’: Nation’s media unimpressed with £45m Arsenal player last night.
“Unfortunately,” the Brazil manager says following last night’s match regarding Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli.”Produced almost nothing”: The £45 million Arsenal player failed to impress the nation’s media last night.Gabriel Jesus, a forward for Arsenal, did not impress the Brazilian media with his performance against Argentina last night.
Lionel Scaloni’s squad defeated Brazil 1-0, with a second-half goal from Nicolas Otamendi securing the outcome.
Following a brief absence of several weeks, Gabriel Jesus immediately resumed his participation in activities.
Arsenal has not used the 26-year-old since last month’s 2-1 victory over Sevilla, when he sustained a hamstring injury.
According to reports, the Gunners were in constant communication with Brazil regarding Jesus’ fitness, and he appeared to be set to play last night.Jesus and his Arsenal companions Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes both made an immediate impact from the outset.
The Brazilian media has also offered some criticism of the Arsenal forward in regards to his most recent performance.Jesus encounters difficulty upon his return to Brazil.
Ge Jesus received a five-out-of-ten rating from Globo in response to his performance against Argentina.
The publication reports that the Arsenal star had difficulty making an impression on the game and, despite a few bright spots, contributed “virtually nothing.”
They wrote, “He received a yellow card for placing his hand on De Paul’s face at the beginning of the match, which disqualifies him from the following round of the Qualifiers.”
“He fought hard in the first half but contributed almost nothing offensively. At 12 in the second half, he executed a brilliant move when he dribbled past a defender, took a shot, and left Martinelli in an excellent position to surpass the goalkeeper. “Thereafter, he made minimal contributions.”In recent times, Jesus has struggled for Brazil, scoring just once in his last 29 appearances.
Although the £45 million player is not exactly a prolific scorer of goals, he would like to see a much greater return for his nation.
Recently, Jesus has struggled for Arsenal in a similar fashion; he has scored just once in the Premier League this season.
Although, he was inevitably a little off-speed last night due to the month-long absence caused by an injury.
Arsenal would likely benefit from Jesus accumulating some much-needed playing time. However, they will be hopeful that the former Manchester City forward quickly regains his confidence when shooting.
