Reason Why Manchester City star Jack Grealish was absent during Man City vs Liverpool FC match clash
The game between Manchester City and Liverpool will have John Stones, but Jack Grealish will not be able to play.
Jack Grealish will not play in Manchester City’s game against Liverpool because he is sick.
This week, the England player played for his country and then went back to training with the Blues. However, he is now sick and can’t play in one of the most important games of the season. That meant Pep Guardiola only had to pick Jeremy Doku on the left wing. Doku had started ahead of Grealish at Chelsea before the international break, but now the two are both healthy and competing for a spot in the team.
Kevin De Bruyne isn’t playing because of an injury, but Matheus Nunes and Mateo Kovacic are also out because they got hurt in the last two weeks. Four first-team players are out, and City hasn’t been able to name a full bench for the second game in a row.
While this is bad news for Liverpool, the news that John Stones is back and healthy enough to play for City is good news. Guardiola was worried that Stones would be out for a much longer time, so the news that he is now available is huge. He was on the bench for the lunchtime game.
Both Sergio Gomez and Nathan Ake are back from injuries, which means that three City players have come back from injuries and three have been ruled out. It’s one change from the 4–4 draw with Chelsea. Nathan Ake has come in for Josko Gvardiol.
