Reason why Phil Foden and Declan Rice was angry with Kieran Trippier during England vs Solvenia match draw (0-0) in the Euro 2024
In their draw with Slovenia, England’s attack once again failed to deliver. Phil Foden and Declan Rice were unhappy with Kieran Trippier’s decisions in the closing third.
England’s anger reached its peak in the goalless draw with Slovenia, where Phil Foden and Declan Rice yelled at Kieran Trippier.
The Three Lions won their last group stage game, but they couldn’t beat their opponents. They still won the group, though. England’s attack keeps failing, even though they have a lot of talented players, as they have only scored twice in three games.
Foden is one of the players who hasn’t quite reached the heights that were hoped for, but he and Rice blew up at Trippier after 30 minutes in Cologne. The Manchester City star passed the ball to the makeshift left back and told him to play inside to Rice.
He tried to send a tough pass to Bukayo Saka instead, but the Slovenian defense cut it off and it was no longer playable. It was then seen Foden and Rice arguing with the Newcastle defender after his choice stopped England’s drive.
A lot of fans saw it, which seems to show how frustrated the English are. Trippier said sorry, but fans still wondered how things were going in camp. One person wrote on social media, “Foden is going crazy at Trippier there.” “Mood not great when Foden throws his hands at Trippier like that,” said someone else. Feels like “Don’t blame me, everyone.”
Trippier has taken over for Luke Shaw, who got there hurt but was still on the team. He looks like he might not be able to go to the Euros at all, which means the Newcastle player might have to play there the whole time, though Bukayo Saka has been talked about moving back to left back.
There are a lot of choices for Gareth Southgate, but he hasn’t found the right one yet, which is making fans even more angry. As of now, Anthony Gordon, who could play out wide, hasn’t gotten many minutes and says they haven’t found their attack yet.
“I just think we can do so much better,” said he. “That’s the hurt. The guys we have are really good. I love how good we are every day in training. We complete everything correctly. It just doesn’t click after that. It should happen in the next games, because we need to start really pressuring teams and taking over games.
Southgate also said, “It’s my job to lead the team through this, get the best out of them, and keep this in mind for them.” Their work over the last few days has made me very happy.
