Reason why Phil Foden and Savinho were absent from the squad during West Ham United vs. Manchester City match (1-3)
City didn’t have Phil Foden or Savinho on their team when they got ready to play West Ham in the Premier League.
It was not possible for Savinho and Phil Foden to play for Manchester City against West Ham.
Pep Guardiola said on Friday that Foden would not be going because he was uncomfortable in the first Premier League game against Chelsea and was still not feeling well against Ipswich a week later. The hope is that he will be able to play against Brentford in two weeks. It is still unclear if he will join the England squad in the meantime.
It was more of a surprise that Savinho wasn’t there; the Brazilian winger had started the first two games and trained this week before the game at the London Stadium. The 22-year-old player hurt his knee, and Guardiola told Sky Sports that the player didn’t feel good with it. The player should be back after the international break, though.

Nico O’Reilly was moved up to the first team while they were away and took their place on the bench. Guardiola only made one change to the team that beat Ipswich. Mateo Kovacic kept his spot in the starting lineup because he was healthy, and Jack Grealish took Savinho’s place.
If City wins, they will be two points ahead of Arsenal. This comes after Arsenal was tied 1-1 by Brighton at the Emirates in the early game. Kai Havertz scored the first goal for Mikel Arteta’s team, but Declan Rice’s second yellow card cost them as Joao Pedro tied the game for the fans.
