Ruben Amorim expresses his sentiment upon learning that Kevin De Bruyne will depart Manchester City at the conclusion of the season. Ahead of the Manchester derby on Sunday, Kevin De Bruyne has announced that he’ll be departing Man City in the summer.
Manchester City travel to Old Trafford on Sunday for a game against neighbours Manchester United. And it’ll prove to be Kevin De Bruyne‘s last Manchester derby. On Friday the 33-year-old De Bruyne announced that he’ll be leaving Man City this summer when his current contract terminates. It marks an end to what’s been a season of uncertainty over the Belgian’s future. But a string of tiresome performances has evidently prompted him and the club to part ways.
Man City fans have been critical of De Bruyne but he’ll depart the club as a true legend of the modern era, winning a staggering 16 titles including six Premier Leagues since he arrived from Wolfsburg in 2015. Amorim’s inaugural Manchester Derby victory occurred in December; however, this will be his final appearance at Old Trafford, and De Bruyne’s final game as a professional. De Bruyne has faced Manchester United an astonishing 21 times throughout his tenure.
De Bruyne has confronted Chelsea and Arsenal on 22 occasions, and Man United are third in the list of teams he has faced the most in his career. Every one of his 21 appearances against United has been played with Manchester City. Man United defeated Man City at the Etihad earlier this season, and he has been on the winning side 10 times, drawn four, and lost seven. In addition to his six assists in the fixture,
De Bruyne has scored three goals in Manchester derbies, all of which were scored in Premier League games. He has also recorded two assists in the FA Cup and four in the Premier League.
