The four Celtic players who emerged victorious in the tumultuous Rangers Cup final
Celtic are a winning machine under Brendan Rodgers, as evidenced by the four players who secured their first trophy as Celtic stars in the tense Rangers Cup final.
The squad, which includes Callum McGregor, Greg Taylor, Cameron Carter-Vickers, and numerous others, has won numerous trophies. In fact, the Hoops recently surpassed Rangers in terms of the number of trophies they have won.
This was achieved after they lifted the Premier Sports Cup above their heads following a 5-4 penalty shootout victory that followed a 3-3 draw in 120 minutes.
However, despite Rodgers’ 10th victory in two periods as manager at Parkhead, there were four players in his squad who had never won a game with Celtic prior to their performance at Hampden yesterday.
Despite conceding three goals, Kasper Schmeichel played an exceptional game in goal, as the Danish goalkeeper was unable to prevent any of them from occurring during the game.
Additionally, he prevented Ridvan Yilmaz from scoring in the shootout, which ultimately proved to be the deciding factor, as Daizen Maeda scored later.
The experienced campaigner was unable to prevent rival goalie Jack Butland from scoring in the shootout, but he praised the Englishman for his ability to manage the strain.
Arne Engels, Kasper Schmeichel, Alex Valle, and Auston Trusty secured their initial Celtic trophies.
Auston Trusty was deployed at center-back in conjunction with CCV, and the American played an impressive 45 minutes. However, Rodgers tactically substituted him at halftime.
In the second half, Arne Engels made a significant contribution to the team by coming off the bench and assisting Nicolas Kuhn in what many at Hampden believed to be the game-winning goal with approximately three minutes remaining.
Danilo scored less than 30 seconds later, however, and that was not to be. Rangers are surpassed by Celtic in terms of the number of trophies they have won, with 119.
However, the Celts ultimately emerged victorious, and Engels contributed to the shootout by scoring a penalty.
And that was also partially due to the fact that left-back loanee Alex Valle, who replaced goal sinner turned goal scorer Greg Taylor, helped secure the victory by providing a direct attacking option.
Although it may have been their initial trophies with Celtic, some have previously won silverware at other organizations.
