52 years-old pundit harshly awards the title to Man City after Arsenal beat Liverpool to start the race
What’s new with Manchester City? Former Manchester United player Roy Keane says what he thinks about City’s chances of winning the Premier League title after Arsenal beat Liverpool on Sunday.
Roy Keane doesn’t think Arsenal or Liverpool will be able to catch Manchester City this season in the league title race.
On Sunday, the Gunners beat Jurgen Klopp’s team 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium. With the win, they are now only two points behind the league leaders. Both Mikel Arteta’s team and City have the same number of points, but City has two games in hand, beginning with Monday night’s game at Brentford (kick-off: 8pm).
And when asked to rate the chances of City’s two main rivals for the title after Sunday’s game in North London, Keane, a great from Manchester United, was clear. The former player said that he thinks Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland will help City win a record-setting fourth straight league title.
“Having watched the game today and I know Liverpool had an off day, Arsenal were nice on the eye, but I still can’t see these two teams finishing above Man City, I just can’t,” he said to Sky Sports.
“I’ve been wrong before, but look at where City is now. With De Bruyne back and Haaland available, I don’t think those two teams will stick together until the end.” I do not think they will be able to keep up with Man City.
When they go to the Gtech Community Stadium on Monday night, Pep Guardiola’s team will be trying for their ninth straight win. The next week, City plays Everton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, February 10. Three days later, they play Copenhagen in the first game of their Champions League knockout match.
