Breaking News: Rangers and Celtic Fc are in a race to sign 27 years-old Nottingham Forest F.C player Scott McKenna this january transfer window
It has been claimed that Glasgow Rangers have joined Celtic in the competition to acquire Scotland international Scott McKenna. The Ibrox club and the Parkhead outfit are competing for the international player’s signing.
Rangers are now eight points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership table; however, the Ibrox club has two games in hand on Brendan Rodgers’ Hoops. Rangers are currently in contention for the title.
In light of this, talkSPORT writer Alex Crook has reported that Rangers and Celtic will engage in a competition off the field in an effort to get the Nottingham Forest defender.
According to the reporter, he has been informed that Celtic FC and Rangers FC are both interested in NFFC defender Scott McKenna. He published this information on X.
The addition of Scott McKenna to the rosters of Glasgow Rangers and Celtic would be beneficial for both teams
Due to the fact that the race for the Premiership title is presently taking place, both Rangers and Celtic will be looking to strengthen their rosters in order to increase their chances of winning the championship this year.
In addition, they would be able to get a player of exceptional talent who has previous experience playing at the highest level at a price that could be considered a bargain.
Through a transfer fee of three million pounds, the 27-year-old player made the move from Aberdeen to Forest in September of 2020. Since then, he has made a total of 105 appearances for the club.
In 2022, Forest was able to secure promotion to the Premier League thanks to McKenna’s efforts, and they have continued to compete in the English top division ever since.
However, due to the fact that he sustained a significant injury during the second half of the previous season, the center-back has fallen out of favor at Forest and has not featured for the Reds since the middle of September.
The fact that McKenna’s contract is set to expire at the conclusion of the current season has led Aberdeen Live to suggest that he has been informed that he is free to leave the club.
Additionally, he is now allowed to discuss the possibility of signing a pre-contract agreement with clubs located outside of England.
Keeping an eye on this transfer story could prove to be rather entertaining. There is little doubt that McKenna has demonstrated his worth in the Scottish top division, and he has also been successful in England and on the international stage.
If they are successful in bringing him to either Ibrox or Parkhead in the next weeks, Rangers and Celtic would significantly improve their position in the league.
We will wait and watch what transpires over the following few weeks. It appears that this is a transfer lead that features some legs.
