Celtic
Top Sport Journalist makes a shock speech on who would win the Scottish Cup League title between Celtic FC and Rangers this season
This season, it looks like the race for the title will go right down to the wire. Rangers is now in the race again because Celtic blew a ten-point lead before Christmas.
However, the media and experts in Scotland are happy about that. However, Celtic fans are furious that Brendan Rodgers’ team gave up such a big lead so quickly.
Even though Celtic has been playing poorly, they are still in first place in the league, and their win over St. Mirren in the Scottish Cup yesterday makes it look like they may have turned a corner.
Rangers are still in first place, though, and it’s not clear if Celtic will be able to protect their title and claim the £60 million Champions League prize that awaits the next Scottish champions.
On Superscoreboard, however, sports commentator and writer David Friel named the team he thinks will win the title this season. Friel also said that Rodgers’s one summer signing could make the difference.
“There is no doubt Celtic are off it,” Friel told the Clyde Superscoreboard. It still sounds better to me at the top end.
“I also think that Rangers’ busier schedule—with European football and Sima and Danilo being hurt—might give Celtic the edge.”
“I think Celtic is stronger up front, and Adam Idah could make a big difference as well.”
Can Adam Idah lead Celtic to the title?
Even though there was a lot of negotiation over the deal to bring Idah to the club, the on-loan Norwich scorer has already made a big difference.
Two goals in three games don’t show the whole picture of Idah’s start with Celtic. The 22-year-old’s two penalties against Hibs showed that he is tough, and his play against Aberdeen and St. Mirren shows that he gives Rodgers a nice change of pace up front.
The way Idah and Kyogo worked together to set up Celtic’s first goal against St. Mirren paid off, and Celtic fans will be hoping that Rodgers will use this strategy more as the league title race nears its end.
