Jeong Ho-yeon reveals the major reason his move to Celtic Fc wasn’t successful during january transfer window
During the winter transfer window, Celtic came very close to making a number of deals happen, but they were unable to do so in time.
Notably, the Bhoys’ failed search for a left back will stick out in people’s minds, even though they made late progress in trying to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers star Hugo Bueno and Paris Saint-Germain outcast Lavyin Kurzawa.
It had been almost a month before new players Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah started to settle in and show what they could do in the short time they had on the field.
Along the opposite lines, there is anger among fans that Brendan Rodgers wasn’t given more money to spend.
At the beginning of February, Football Scotland said that a lot of players, mostly left-sided defenders, were sent to Celtic. Some names even made it to the Irishman before being thrown out.
There will always be negotiations that don’t go as planned in the market. However, fans are still confused about why the team doesn’t have more top players.
This is why the Celtic move never happened, according to Jeong Ho-yeon.
Last month, Celtic and Gwangju midfielder Jeong Ho-yeon talked about the player’s possible move to Glasgow. However, Celtic never made an offer for the South Korea Under-23 international.
In an interview a little over three weeks ago, the 23-year-old said that he hadn’t “heard anything about a transfer to Celtic,” even though Rodgers’ team had been linked to him.
Jeong told Sports Seoul through The Daily Record that he didn’t come to Parkhead in January because “there was no official offer; it’s because I’m not good enough.” I would have liked to go to Europe if I had been given the chance. There was no offer, though. I still feel like I’m missing a lot, and I think the club did too.
“I believe I need to improve my worth as a player this year.” I believe I can make a lot of progress, so I don’t feel bad about what I did now.
Transfermarkt says that Jeong has played 71 times for Gwangju in all categories and has scored three goals and set up seven others.
Soon, Celtic will start thinking about the players they want to sign in the summer.
It’s hard to believe that Celtic will already be making decisions about which players to sign in the summer, but the second half of the season isn’t that long in the big picture.
No matter what happens this season, it’s clear that Rodgers’ team needs a change because there are too many extra players at Parkhead.
The Bolton Wanderers should have stricter quality control when it comes to transfers. This will help stop them from keeping people who aren’t good enough to make it at the club.
