‘Advanced talks’: Manchester United closing in on deal for 17-year-old as first January signing.

“Advanced discussions”: Manchester United nears an agreement to acquire a 17-year-old as their first January acquisition.Manchester United is nearing an agreement to acquire Callan McKenna, a gifted adolescent goalkeeper.

Although Callan McKenna would be joining the Manchester United academy rather than Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup, he would be the club’s first acquisition at any level in January. 17-year-old Callan McKenna has already made his debut with the second-tier Scottish club Queen’s Park.

 

Early in his career, McKenna participated in the junior academy of Celtic. Subsequently, in 2021, he signed with Hibernian and Queen’s Park.

 

He has now advanced through the levels, having appeared in nine games for the Spiders’ first team while maintaining two clean sheets.Prior to sustaining an injury, he began the season as their starting quarterback at the age of 16. However, he has since been relegated to the bench in recent contests. The date of his seventeenth birthday was the end of December.

 

According to a report in The Record, Manchester United have surpassed Arsenal and Chelsea in the contest for his signature.

 

McKenna is an international for Scotland at the under-19 level, in addition to under-18 and under-17 levels.
