CONFIRMED: Manchester United has paid £60 million for a striker who is superior to

Arsenal. The player’s four-year contract with Gabriel Jesus is scheduled to be disclosed today.

The likelihood of Manchester United signing Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee this month has reportedly been discussed, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg. In recent weeks, the Red Devils have been linked with the Dutch ace, and Plettenberg has now confirmed that the club has initiated an inquiry regarding him.

The hierarchy holds his development and quality in the highest regard. While discussions did occur, Bologna does not appear to be considering the sale of their valuable asset this month.

The ex-Bayerische Munich player is expected to depart in the summer, as his contract with the Serie A club contains a release clause worth €40 million.

Zirkzee might be Hojlund’s optimal competitor.

United will almost certainly acquire a new striker this year. They’ve decided against exercising Anthony Martial’s extension option when his contract expires at the conclusion of the current season. This summer, the Frenchman will conclude his nine-year affiliation with the club. Zirkzee, who has been designated as his successor, may present Rasmus Hojlund with competition.

Since his rookie season, Hojlund has been an uncontested starter. His three goal contributions in his last two Premier League appearances indicate that he is beginning to find his bearing.

Massive potential notwithstanding, the Dane ought to continue to improve, but United would benefit from the addition of another quality striker. It will prevent Hojlund from being able to take his position for granted.

Zirkzee has contributed to 12 goals in 22 appearances so far this season. The 6’3″ striker has excellent hold-up play, enjoys dribbling, and is also capable of contributing crucial passes.

The presence of Robert Lewandowski prevented the Dutchman from achieving success at Bayern, but he is undoubtedly flourishing at Bologna and appears poised for a more significant transfer.
