On Wednesday, however, Littler’s fantastical journey came to an abrupt halt as he was defeated 7-4 in a nail-biting final at Alexandra Palace in London, courtesy of Luke Humphries.

Favorite Humphries contested the World Darts Championship final; upon defeating underdog Littler, he would ascend to world No. 1.

A cash incentive of £500,000 was awarded to the 28-year-old PDC champion, whereas £200,000 was won by United supporter Littler in recognition of his outstanding performance at Alexandra Palace.A missive from United legend Beckham is disclosed by Littler.

Following his impressive outing in the competition, Littler garnered significant attention. He entered the World Darts Championship ranked 164th.

Before the final, Littler discussed his recent triumph in darts on talkSPORT, revealing that his social media following “explored” as a result of his run.

He stated, “It has been absolutely insane.”

“My Instagram followers have vanished while my Twitter and X followings have skyrocketed.”

“I’ve even received messages from Luke Shaw, David Beckham, and Romeo Beckham…”Andy Goldstein, a host on TalkSPORT, was taken aback by Beckham’s communication with Littler, who will advance in the global rankings upon reaching the final.

“Message received from Becks? Did it involve a DM? What was written on it? Diamond questioned Littler.

Littler, who recently honored two Manchester United players, disclosed the words that United legend Beckham had spoken to him prior to his final matchup with Humphries.

He stated, “I believe it said, ‘Well done, once a Red, always a Red.'””Then Romeo is present tonight [at the Alexandra Palace], and he wished you the best of luck.”

“Littler’s dream run” concludes.

United’s official website verified that Littler has been extended an invitation to Old Trafford subsequent to his extraordinary performance at the World Darts Championship.

Littler stated after his loss to Humphries that his objective is to eventually win the World Darts Championship, despite his failure to clear the final hurdle.

“The only drawback was that my throw lost too many legs, which allowed Luke to break it, then hold it, and I would be down 2-0 [in the set],” he explained (as cited in BBC Sport).

” Luke merits credit; he justly merits it.””I have reached the final; it is possible that I will not reach another final for the next five to ten years; however, I am content with finishing in second place for the time being; all I want is to win.”
