Danny Murphy, a BBC analyst, was perplexed as to why Eddie Howe failed to make a single crucial substitution for Newcastle at halftime in their match against Nottingham Forest.

Despite Newcastle entering halftime on a level score, Forest dominated the second half and generated the more legitimate opportunities.Dan Burn had performed poorly for forty-five minutes down the left flank, and Murphy, speaking on Match of the Day, was perplexed as to why he remained on the field as the second half began.

Burn had one of his worst performances against Forest for Newcastle.

It appeared that every time Forest launched an attack, it was from their right flank, with Anthony Elanga edging Burn for speed and converting the opportunity.

Burn was given an opportunity to enter the game in the second half, but Newcastle substituted Burn for Tino Livramento subsequent to Chris Wood delivering the game-winning goal for Forest. It’s difficult for Burn, who has been such a dependable member of the squad since joining Howe for £13 million almost two years ago; however, since returning from injury, his weaknesses are beginning to be exposed much more.

Murphy was astonished that Burn was still on the field and acknowledged that Elanga had spent the entire afternoon “outstanding” against the 31-year-old.

Murphy stated on the program, “They disregarded the cautionary advice. Too frequently, they failed to pass the ball to Elanga, leaving him in vast expanses of space. He is cognizant of the fact that he is gaining ground on him.Livramento being on the bench at halftime, Eddie Howe’s failure to make the change astounded me; he is such an intelligent individual, yet he failed to recognize the situation.

“They then missed the target with the ball in the first ten seconds of the second half, and he intercepted it.” Elanga’s confidence increased as a result of his exceptional performance.Livramento ought to represent the future of Newcastle.

While Burn’s contribution to the club’s qualification for the Champions League as a youth supporter is deserving of admiration, it is indisputable that he has his limitations as a left-back.Since joining the squad, Livramento has been one of Newcastle’s top performers, capable of doing virtually everything Burn can do defensively, with the exception of generating a significantly greater amount of offense.

Clearly capable of becoming Newcastle’s starting left-back in the long run, the 21-year-old is also exceptionally competent in the present and ought to be starting a greater number of games.
