Jose Mourinho explains why Arsenal will not win the Premier League title this season.
The reasons why Arsenal will not win the Premier League title this season are explained by Jose Mourinho.Premier League leaders Arsenal’s chances of winning the
championship this season have been downplayed by Jose Mourinho, who continues to believe that Manchester City are the favorites to retain the title. After a 2-0 victory over Brighton, Arsenal remained atop the table for the second consecutive weekend. Aston Villa and Liverpool trail by one point, whereas City surrendered a two-goal advantage at home to Crystal Palace and are now five points off the lead.
At this time last year, Arsenal were also in first place with a five-point lead over City. However, the tripartite champions closed the gap in the second half of the season and secured their third consecutive championship.Mourinho believes City will ultimately prevail due to the diversity of their squad, which is sufficient to field two world-class XIs. Liverpool is their closest competitor, but he would prefer Arsenal to make it a three-horse race.
Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel asked Mourinho on his The Obi One Podcast which team would win the Premier League. Mourinho responded, “Man City 51% and Liverpool 49%.”
When queried about the presence of league champions Arsenal in the conversation, Mourinho responded with a simple “Na.”
Mikel erupted in laughter in response to his former manager’s candor: “The rivalry remains!”Mourinho further stated, “However, the rivalry is not the issue…” The present situation is not suitable for them.’
Mourinho responded to Mikel’s remark that the north Londoners “always capitulate” by saying, “In all honesty, rivalry aside, I would like them to win; I would even accept a third [team in the title race].”
“Obviously Chelsea will not win; that is completely implausible; therefore, I do not contemplate Chelsea.”Obviously, Manchester United will not prevail; I refrain from discussing Man United. Therefore, it will come down to these three teams, and Arsenal would be the most satisfactory among them.
“I would be overjoyed to see them make a small comeback, but I believe the score between City and Liverpool is 51-49.”
“I say 51-49 because, as the matches accumulate, Manchester City will have two teams!”
Due to their participation in the Club World Cup, Manchester City will not resume play in the Premier League until December 27. Therefore, when the two clubs meet at Anfield the following weekend, either Arsenal or Liverpool can extend their lead over the defending champions.
Roberto De Zerbi makes a monumental claim for Arsenal following his loss to Brighton.
Pep Guardiola fumes as Manchester City squanders a two-goal lead and ties Crystal Palace. “This cannot happen!”
