According to Football Insider, Liverpool may consider paying approximately £40-50 million for Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens next summer, given his promising start to the Bundesliga season. It is rumored that the Reds are among the clubs that are keeping an eye on the intriguing 20-year-old’s situation in Germany. In the event that Dortmund’s ‘impossible to defend against’ winger maintains his current level of performance, they are optimistic about obtaining a substantial fee. Gittens is currently experiencing a breakthrough season under the guidance of his new manager, Nuri Sahin, who has demonstrated a high level of confidence in the youthful winger from the outset of the campaign. In a total of 459 minutes of action, the 20-year-old has registered two assists and scored four goals in nine appearances for Dortmund across all competitions. The report indicates that it is improbable that an exit agreement for Gittens will be approved during the January window; any action is anticipated to

occur during the summer of 2025. After signing a long-term contract with the Bundesliga giants last year, the England U21 international is currently under contract until June 2028. Gittens is being pursued by the Premier League Giants following a successful month in Germany.

Gittens has played in the youth levels since joining Dortmund from Manchester City’s academy in September 2020. He made his senior debut 18 months later. The promising winger has already made 67 first-team appearances for Dortmund over his three years with the senior squad, scoring nine goals and recording 11 assists, despite his young age. Gittens has also appeared in nine matches for England’s Under-21 team since his debut in September 2023, when he was appointed by current senior manager Lee Carsley. He was instrumental in the Young Lions’ victory at the 2022 European Under-19 Championship, starting in the final. Liverpool, despite having strengthened their frontline with Federico Chiesa in the summer market, is one of the clubs that is interested in Gittens, according to Football Insider. Gittens would likely be one of the most expensive departures from Dortmund if he were to join the Reds, following in the footsteps of Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho, who both transferred to the Premier League from the Bundesliga club.
