The future of Raphael Varane and Anthony Martial according to Manchester UnitedIt remains anticipated that Anthony Martial will depart from Manchester United, and the club cannot guarantee that Raphael Varane will be offered a new contract.

The declaration by Erik ten Hag that Manchester United “are speaking with Rapha Varane and Anthony Martial,” both of whom have contract expirations in June, caused one broadcaster to produce a segment in which they expressed astonishment that the 28-year-old striker might be eligible to sign a new deal.

The analysis was initially shared on the social media account of the publication, but was subsequently removed after the misconception was brought to attention. According to an October report by the Manchester Evening News, it was likely that Martial would be released if he did not sell during the January transfer window.United have decided against adding another year to Martial’s contract and have every intention of releasing him in the summer. Since the beginning of the 2020-21 season, the Frenchman has scored a meager 18 goals for United, and the injury-prone Martial appeared in just 28 of 62 games during the previous campaign. Due to illness, he has been absent from training for the past three and a half weeks.Varane, age 30, is uncertain as to whether he should accept United’s offer of reduced terms, as he believes he is being pushed out. Between October and December, the World Cup champion started one of a possible thirteen games, and Varane was available for all but two of those contests.

As resale value is associated with the contracts of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, and Hannibal Mejbri, the corresponding one-year extensions were initiated.

A central defensive transfer is a possibility as United prepare to bolster the area. Wan-Bissaka, who turned 26 in November, has generated interest during Ten Hag’s tenure. Mejbri, who turns 21 later this month, joined for €10 million from Monaco as a 16-year-old.
