Scottish football coach and pundit Barry Ferguson pinpoint and named the only outstanding player during Kilmarnock vs Celtic Match
The Celtic players who played in the loss to Kilmarnock on Sunday didn’t really get any good grades.
The team as a whole wasn’t very good, and their game on Sunday was possibly the worst of the season so far.
Barry Ferguson says that after scolding Luis Palma, only one player gets praise for putting in a good shift against Derek McInnes’ team.
“The only player who looked comfortable with the ball in my eyes was Callum McGregor,” Ferguson said on The Go Radio Football Show. He seems to be a little calm.
“It looked like other players wanted to get rid of the ball; they didn’t want it.”
“And as soon as Kilmarnock scored the equalizer, there was chaos.” When you look at the game, Callum McGregor is the only one who seems a little off.
“I believe they depend on him too much.”
Against the Ayrshire team, the Celtic leader did play pretty well. Kilmarnock kept attacking, but McGregor did his best to stop them. He won six duels, played five defense actions, and recovered three balls.
It was also easy for the 30-year-old great to handle the ball. McGregor tried to move Celtic forward and had 77 touches of the ball. He passed the ball 90% of the time and had one shot that went in. What’s up, folks?
However, it wasn’t enough as Kilmarnock scored late to beat the Hoops 2-1. Kilmarnock is currently in fifth place in the SPFL.
The Champions League is up next for Celtic. The last game of Brendan Rodgers’ team’s European season is against Feyenoord. They will be hoping for at least a win to save face after yet another disappointing season in Europe’s top league.
