The Brazilian forward was absent from PSV’s final Champions League group match on Tuesday night. Despite a 1-1 draw in Martinelli’s absence, the Gunners remained in first place of Group B with 13 points.
And now that Premier League action has resumed, Arteta, who is vying for a position atop the table by leapfrogging Liverpool, has provided supporters with a potentially significant update.The Spaniard acknowledged during his pre-match press conference that Martinelli might come in for Leandro Trossard this weekend.
“He is in a cheerful mood. When queried about the 22-year-old, the Arsenal manager stated, “He will be in contention,” as cited by 90min.
Since the commencement of the current campaign, Martinelli, whose contract remains for a maximum of four and a half years, has accumulated three assists and four goals across 19 appearances across all competitions.
The Emirates match scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. (UK time) on Sunday is not scheduled for live television broadcast.
