Tottenham Hotspur correspondent break silence and reveals the two Tottenham Hotspur players Manchester City wanted signing
Alan Gold said that Manchester City wanted to sign two young Tottenham Hotspur players in January.
The Citizens signed Claudio Echeverri during the winter transfer window. They also said goodbye to Kalvin Phillips, who went on loan to West Ham United until the end of the season.
Since the transfer market closed, some behind-the-scenes information about two players that the Manchester United club was interested in but didn’t move for has come to light.
Gold said that City was interested in two Spurs players.
In the most recent episode of Gold and Guest Talk Tottenham, Gold talked about two Spurs players that City were interested in last month.
He told them, “You have Mikey Moore, who is a real genius.” I also have Callum Olusesi. Both Moore and Olusesi agreed to stay with Spurs. A huge number of big clubs were interested in them. I think Team Man City and others were among them.
Olusesi plays middle for Spurs’ U18 team and has scored five goals and set up three others in 12 games in the U18 Premier League and the FA Youth Cup.
Moore, on the other hand, has scored nine goals and set up six others in nine league games, where he has played in a range of midfield and attacking roles.
This makes it clear why the Manchester club might have been interested in adding the two 16-year-olds to their youth team.
As things stand, Manchester United is 17 points ahead of City’s U18 team at the top of the North version of the league table.
So, if the club had been able to sign Moore and Olusesi in January, it would have greatly improved City’s U18 team’s chances of catching up to their close rivals, especially since Moore and Olusesi have been so good at scoring goals this season.
