According to Peter Grant, Celtic could be interested in a “natural finisher” from the Scotland national team

As January draws near, Celtic will look even harder for a striker to back up and protect Kyogo Furuhashi.

The red-hot Celtic striker recently got a bad head injury in the 6-0 win over Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership. That’s when Celtic’s strength in the lineup really became clear.

Now that Hyeongyu Oh has gotten better at scoring, there is a little less of a rush to get another striker. But what if Kyogo gets hurt and can’t play for a while? Is Oh really the right person to fill in for the “world-class” Japanese star?

Some experts don’t think so. This means that Celtic will have to spend a lot of money to get a new number nine before the Asian Cup starts in January.

There was talk this morning that the club was interested in the Japanese winger Kanji Okunuki. To escape a selection headache in January, Brendan Rodgers may need to look at other players after hearing what he had to say about his hopes for the Japan national team.

There was a report yesterday on TBR Celtic that Celtic were told Lawrence Shankland could be a scorer who could fill in for Kyogo. It looks like Peter Grant agrees with this assessment.

“Listen, we’ve talked about it,” Grant said on The Go Radio Football Show. We said that he has scored goals before.

“He’s had a dry spell, which most strikers do.” We think he’d be in the team all the time if he played for Celtic or Rangers, though, because those teams make the most chances.

“He likes to finish, but I think his overall game has gotten better.”

“He’s trained with the team, and we hope that he can score if he gets the chance.”

“But if you look at all of them, who do you think is the most natural finisher in the Scotland group?” Most likely, I’d say Lawrence Shankland.”

In fact, this is the third time that Celtic has been told to sign Shankland, but I don’t think many Hoops fans would agree with this.

Without a question, the Scotland striker and captain of Hearts is a very good player. But does he have Celtic class? Could he be the right person to score at least 20 goals for the team every season and handle the stress of having to win every week?

I’m not sure. Still, you never know. Celtic didn’t lose much when they had the last Scottish scorer, so who knows what Shankland could do?

“I’ll be honest” is another story. Barry Ferguson says he was totally wrong about the 25-year-old Celtic player.
