Fabrizio Romano reveals agreement to dump Man Utd player who’s not happy with Ten Hag.
Fabrizio Romano discloses his intention to release the Manchester United player who is dissatisfied with Ten Hag.Although Manchester United may find solace in their goalless draw with archrivals Liverpool on the previous weekend, considering the hosts had won all four home games this season,
the truth remains that they are still grappling with an extremely challenging campaign. As the festive season draws near, Manchester United finds themselves in the seventh position of the Premier League standings, five points behind the four leaders. Before the club can make any moves during the January transfer window, it is critical that Erik ten Hag clears some space in their roster; the club has begun the process of doing so.
United agreed to pay Ajax up to £40 million to sign Donny van de Beek in 2020 (BBC Sport), during the tenure of manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, following his disastrous spell with the club. Subsequently, he has appeared in a mere 62 games across all competitions for the club, 35 of which have been in the Premier League, during which he has made just one start.
The player’s difficulties may be attributed to his restricted playing time; however, the Red Devils might contend that they have obtained a negligible return on their investment in those minutes, as evidenced by his two goals and two assists (Transfermarkt).Van de Beek was on loan at Everton for the latter part of the 2021/22 season. As his contract expires in the summer of 2025, it appears that he will make another temporary departure (Transfermarkt).
Loan agreement for Van de Beek with Eintracht Frankfurt
According to Fabrizio Romano, “every party involved” in Van de Beek’s six-month loan to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt has reached an agreement. The agreement has been reached as the pertinent documents are currently being exchanged following the player’s successful medical examination.
On January 1, Frankfurt, who have advanced to the Europa Conference League play-off round, will have the opportunity to sign Van de Beek. However, he will not be able to make his debut until January 13, when they meet RB Leipzig following the German winter break.
Although Van de Beek’s tenure with United remains unofficial, it is difficult to envision a path forward. Had anything the slightest possibility existed that could have reversed his situation at Old Trafford, it would have been the 2022 advent of his former manager, Erik ten Hag.
The midfielder had been an integral member of Ajax’s 2018-19 Champions League semifinal squad, which also secured the Eredivisie and Dutch Cup. During that enormous season, he appeared in 57 games and accumulated an astounding 30 goal involvements (17 goals, 13 assists; Transfermarkt).Conversely, the player’s condition has not significantly improved. His performance in the Premier League since his return from injury has been abysmal, amassing a meager two minutes of play this season.
Furthermore, he did not make a single appearance in Europe prior to United’s elimination, as Ten Hag elected to omit him from his Champions League squad. As reported by the Turkish outlet A Spor/Sport Witness, the Dutchman was unsurprisingly dissatisfied with that action and was “looking forward to leaving.”
It is now possible for him to obtain his desire, and it is therefore in everyone’s best interest for him to play football elsewhere.
