Former United coaches mocked the club for selling a “deadly” icon for peanuts, stating, “He’s an animal.”

Former mentors of Mateo Mejia have predicted that the player will immediately hit the ground running upon his return to Spanish football.

It was formally announced earlier on Thursday that Mejia had departed Manchester United permanently to pursue new opportunities with Sevilla.

Although Sevilla did not remit any payment for the Colombian, United included a 25% sell-on clause in the agreement.

Mejia was acquired by the Red Devils in 2019 from Real Zaragoza, where he garnered significant attention as a highly prospective youngster. He returned to Spain five years later, this time donning the colors of Sevilla. Mejia, who was never given an opportunity to make the United first team, will be aiming for a marked improvement in his performance at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.

A number of the striker’s former Zaragoza coaches were interviewed by Estadio Deportivo and expressed their delight at the striker’s newfound opportunity.

Mejia’s first coach at Zaragoza, Méchel Catalán, remarked, “I was present during that match when Santi Aragón surprised us immediately, particularly with his speed and ability to throw off the balance.””Since we signed him, the tempo was perpetually altered due to his velocity.” When it comes to empty locations, Mateo is lethal. He could have devoted himself entirely to athletics.

Mejia’s colleague Raúl Martínez further stated, “In terms of appearance, he resembles an animal.”

“During our time together, he reached speeds befitting a Spanish Athletics Championship.” “He is extremely hungry for success and operates at breakneck speed, all of which are essential qualities for a promising young football player.”

“He has the potential to be an asset to Sevilla.” Although he has experienced injury issues in the past, he has been performing admirably for Manchester United this season and will readily adjust. There are no athletes with his profile at Sevilla, and he has the ability to make an impact.”

Catalán emphasized that Mejia is the focus of considerable interest and, should he receive a significant number of minutes, will draw the attention of some of Europe’s most prominent clubs.

He expressed admiration for Sevilla’s willingness to take a risk on the youngster and confirmed that the Los Nervionenses will not be disappointed with their acquisition of the striker.
