As a result of their loss to Hearts by a score of 2-0 at Tynecastle this afternoon, Celtic missed out on the chance to take the top spot in the league.

To be fair to Brendan Rodgers’ team, however, the defeat was aided along by some awful decisions made by the video assistant referee (VAR) that cost Celtic a lot of money during the match.

The winger was deemed to have committed a major foul with a high boot that made a small contact with Hearts midfielder Alex Cochrane, which resulted in a red card being shown to Hyunjun Yang in the first half. This allowed Celtic to play with ten men after only sixteen minutes of play.

As the former Celtic manager delivered his assessment on the ‘terrible’ red card, Neil Lennon was experiencing a great deal of frustration with the decision.

“For me, this is the most significant moment of the half,” Lennon said when he was being interviewed by Sky Sports. You are free to argue with me about it as much as you like, Eilidh, but I do not believe that should be considered a clear red card.

“He is attempting to flick the ball over [Alex] Cochrane’s head, in which case Cochrane is going in to head the ball, which is quite appropriate.”

However, it is only a short film. There is also no malice. Despite the fact that it appears to be in a terrible state when it is slowed down, Yang has absolutely no intention of causing any harm to the player.

“In all honesty, I believe that this choice is somewhat surprising. I am receiving a yellow card. It is a terrible choice to make.”

Kris Boyd’s terrible interpretation of the Celtic red card

Boyd makes his contribution just before Barbour moves to a break, saying, “I never got the chance but I think the Yang one is a red card.” The Sky commentator does not waste any time in stirring up the pot, as he contributes this statement.

A angry reaction from Lennon was prompted by his interruption, and the former Celtic manager yelled out in a passionate manner, “No!” What is it? During what time period are you playing? You have taken a step backwards.

Boyd has a history of making comments of this nature, and it was obvious that he was attempting to stir up controversy with this most recent offering for him.

Due to the fact that the Hoops winger’s reaction revealed that there was absolutely no desire to cause harm to the Hearts player, the decision to remove Yang off the field was exceptionally harsh.

When using video assistant referees, however, it is impossible to predict how these decisions would be made because the video referee will examine each incident in great detail.

From this point forward, Celtic must get themselves back on track and get ready for the Scottish Cup quarterfinal match against Livingston that will take place at Paradise on the following Sunday.
