Celtic was down to ten men after only 16 minutes because Hyunjun Yang was found to have put his opponent in danger with a high boot.

Surprisingly, though, it wasn’t that choice that really made Sky Sports commentator Kris Boyd mad. The ex-Rangers striker made it clear how he felt about the award.

Kris Boyd can’t understand what Hearts did against Celtic

The Sky Sports commentator doesn’t often agree with decisions that go against Celtic, but he was sure that the call to punish Tomoki Iwata for touch was “awful” this time.

“This is the only bad choice for me,” Boyd told Sky Sports. Johnston, Alistair, walks right into the back of Iwata. While I understand that the rules are the rules, what was he trying to say?

“What is he supposed to do sincerely?” After being given the punishment, Grant neatly hides it, which Idah did not do.

“That penalty was really good and sent Joe Hart the wrong way, but I don’t understand some of the calls in the first half.”

After losing 2-0 to Hearts, Brendan Rodgers’ team missed a chance to take the lead that could have made the league title race more interesting.

Right now, VAR is in the news for all the wrong reasons, and it looks like it has had a big impact on the race for the title.

With nine games left in the Scottish Premiership, there is still a lot to play for between Celtic and Rangers, who are still two points apart.

Concerns about VAR will probably continue into next week, but Celtic need to focus on getting ready for the Scottish Cup next week, where David Martindale’s Livingston will be the opponent.
