Manchester United 22 years-old loanee Mason Greenwood responds to Jude Bellingham incident after Getafe vs Real Madrid match (0- 2)

Mason Greenwood, who is on loan from Manchester United, scored in Getafe’s 1-1 draw this past weekend. La Liga is now looking into Jude Bellingham’s “slur” against him.

Mason Greenwood, who is on loan from Manchester United, scored in a 1-1 draw after being in the news again for a week.

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham was reported for allegedly making an offensive comment to Greenwood during Real’s 2-0 win over Getafe on Thursday night. Bellingham is now the subject of a probe by La Liga.

The event happened in the second half of the game after Greenwood tackled Bellingham. Bellingham’s comment was caught on TV cameras live the next day. La Liga is thought to have hired a professional lip reader to find out what was said. If it turns out that Bellingham said the word in question, he could be banned.

To quickly forget about what happened, Greenwood was back in action on Sunday. He scored from the penalty spot to help Getafe tie 1-1 at Real Betis. His total number of goals scored this season in all categories is seven.

Before the game, Getafe’s boss Jose Bordalas was asked what he thought about what was going on with the United academy graduate. He defended his player: “I know the same thing you do.” That’s not up to me; the club, La Liga, and the Federation need to decide what to do. I can only ask that you treat Mason Greenwood with respect, as he is a great person. He treats everyone with care and is a good example of how to act.

United banned the 22-year-old striker in January 2022 after claims that he tried to rape someone, hit someone, and used controlling and coercive behavior. The case was then looked into for a long time. In February 2023, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) dropped all claims against Greenwood.

After the internal probe was over last year, Greenwood left United on loan to play for Getafe.
