Mikel Arteta finally explains why he made shock decision to drop Gabriel.
Mikel Arteta has now provided an explanation for the unexpected choice he took to dismiss Gabriel.Mikel Arteta is of the opinion that the unexpected decision he made to release Gabriel Magalhaes at the beginning of the season has led to the
Brazilian international player becoming a more accomplished player.Since making the transfer from Lille to Arsenal three years ago, the 25-year-old has been a consistent member of the team’s defense. He is now enjoying what could be considered his best run of form while wearing the Arsenal jersey right now.
It was a different scenario back in August, when Arteta confined his center-half to the replacements’ bench for the first three games of the season. This was in response to rumors that he was going to be transferred to the Saudi Pro League, which would be a profitable move.
After Gabriel’s mediocre defensive performance in the match against Fulham, which ended in a 2-2 tie, Arteta brought him back into the starting lineup for the match against Manchester United, and he hasn’t missed a Premier League game since that dramatic late triumph.Gabriel, in conjunction with William Saliba, has established a connection that is becoming increasingly strong, which has been the driving force behind Arsenal’s ascent to the top of the table in advance of their match against Wolves this afternoon. In the past, Arteta had been quite tight-lipped about the rationale behind Gabriel’s early season relegation; nevertheless, on Friday, he made a veiled reference to the fact that Gabriel has benefited much from his time spent on the bench. At the news conference that Arteta held before the game, he stated that in football, the focus is on the future.
“It is about form, it is about how you are playing, it is about how you are behaving, and you have to earn it every single day, because you know that somebody else is next to you and wants to take your place and deserves to take your place,” the coach said.
“There are times when all you need to do is take a seat on the bench and reflect on the situation, and then all of a sudden, you discover that you are a much better player.””To see those two center backs at that age in the Premier League doing what they’re doing that’s very strange,” Arteta said in reference to the growing partnership between his now firmly established first choice central defensive combo. “And it’s very strange to see them doing what they’re doing.”
You should give them credit since that is a collaboration. When it comes to establishing a relationship and chemistry, there is no business that can provide you with that statistic because it is virtually impossible to quantify.
“There is something there; it is not tangible, but it is very, very important in certain positions, and those two certainly have that,” the speaker said.
