Report: Man City now ready to join race to sign £60m Chelsea target.
Man City is now reportedly prepared to compete for a £60 million Chelsea target.Manchester City may present competition for Chelsea’s services in acquiring Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha.
Joao Palhinha has been linked with a transfer to Chelsea, and according to TEAMtalk, the Blues are still in contention to acquire him.The Sun, however, reports that Manchester City are also interested in purchasing the 28-year-old for a possible £60 million.
In the summer, Chelsea undertook a midfield overhaul by signing Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. It appears, nonetheless, that Mauricio Pochettino is not entirely content with the alternatives at his disposal.
January could see the Blues seek to bolster their attack in addition to the midfield. A persistent rumor persists regarding Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and a possible transfer to Stamford Bridge.
Manchester City enters the Joao Palhinha competition.
Chelsea would suffer a setback if City entered the contest for Palhinha, given their strong desire for the Portugal international.
In the event of a direct confrontation between the two factions, it is highly probable that only one side would emerge victorious.City are presently in the Champions League after winning the treble last season, whereas Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League standings and are not involved in any European competitions. It is exceedingly difficult to conceive of him declining the former.
Regardless of the circumstances, it is indisputable that Palhinha will eventually depart Craven Cottage.
Last season, he recorded the most clearances in the Premier League, demonstrating that he is an exceptional footballer (FBref).
Under Marco Silva, Fulham have performed admirably in the Premier League, but eventually one of the division’s larger clubs or a European powerhouse such as Bayern Munich will acquire Palhinha. His current form suggests he is capable of advancing to the next level, a fact that Chelsea’s west London adversaries will likely have to concede.
