After being picked on by Celtic fans, Liel Abada had no choice but to leave the team.

That’s what his Israeli friend Avi Luzon, who is the head of Maccabi Petah Tikva and used to play for Abada’s club, says.

The 22-year-old attacker is leaving the Hoops to join MLS team FC Charlotte in a £10 million move.

It will be a little over six months since the winger signed a new deal with the Scottish champions that will keep him there until the summer of 2027.

Last month, Brendan Rodgers said that Abada would not be involved with the first team going forward because the player was not in the right frame of mind. This has to do with the ongoing war in the Middle East between Israel and Palestine, which is his home country.

People say that some Celtic fans who regularly show their support for Palestine by waving flags and putting up banners at games have helped shape Abada’s views.

In an interview with Sport 5, Luzon slammed the Celtic fans, saying that they kicked Abada out of the club because of how “disgusting” they were to him.

The head of the club said, “Liel Abada personally felt very bad about everything that was going on, including the anger of the fans in the street toward him more than once.” The fans were mean to him and didn’t give him a choice.

“I’m glad he found a good place.” Brendan Rodgers wanted him, so they gave him a better deal with twice as much money in the summer. At the start of the season, they did want him. “Liel didn’t feel welcome; she got mean looks, which isn’t nice to feel.”

Abada is going to get checked out by a doctor before he makes the big money move to the United States.
