Reason why the 19-year-old Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall was substituted for Paul Dummett during Newcastle Fc vs Everton draw match
When you come on late in a game and you’re ahead, it’s always tough. For someone like me who plays defense, those times are always tough because you want to stay focused and help the team.
Paul has been great while I’ve been here; he’s a really nice, honest kid. It’s just one of those times that went against us, but I can’t blame the players because I thought we were really committed and played really well for most of the game.
Dummett came on for Lewis Hall near the end of the game because the 19-year-old looked like he was having trouble. Howe also said, “[It was] just a bit of fatigue” when asked why Hall was replaced.
In the end, The Magpies missed the chance to get back into the top seven because they didn’t take enough chances in the second half.
“I thought we should have won the game based on the chances we had which was why the second goal was so important,” Howe told the newspaper. “They could have hurt you with just one kick or set play.”
“In light of how young our team is, I thought we played that part of our game really, really well.” In terms of strength, Dan Burn and Fabby Schar played great and led us to victory.
“It’s that clinical edge and scoring that second goal is what we needed.”
Newcastle is eighth in the Premier League table right now, and they still have eight games to play. Depending on how other teams do in other competitions, their current place might be enough to get them into the Europa Conference League this season.
Fulham is the next team Howe’s team will play. They will go to Craven Cottage on Saturday (3pm and the game starts).
